The STMA is a professional association of sports field managers. It has over 2,500 members who oversee sports fields and facilities at colleges and universities, parks, recreational facilities, schools and professional sports stadia across the United States.
To launch the agreement, a document providing useful guidelines for planning 'Green' sports events has been collaboratively issued by GSA and the STMA. These guidelines, co-authored by Jane Poynter and GSA-NY's Kevin Trotta (also an STMA member), are based on GSA-USA's Ecoflag Event Pledge and are available online on STMA's Environmental Stewardship page. These recommendations are provided to encourage and support environmentally friendly events and are based on the GSA principles of Ecoplay. Also provided on this STMA web page is a link to GSA's G-ForSE website, the world's largest database of environmental action in sports.
This GSA / STMA cooperative agreement opens the door to future opportunities to work together in promoting environmental leadership in the world of sports.
